Behind the Build: How We Install Gates in Tampa Bay

A KSM Gates installation follows five steps: a free site visit, a written quote and design, fabrication, installation, and a walkthrough where we show you how everything works. Most residential installs take 1 to 3 days on site once the gate is ready, depending on size, automation and whether posts need concrete time.

Step 1: What happens at the free site visit?

We measure the opening, check the driveway slope, look at where power is available (or whether solar makes more sense), and talk through how you want the gate to work day to day. We also ask about HOA rules and whether the gate needs to match an existing fence. There is no charge and no obligation.

Step 2: How do you design and quote the gate?

You get a clear written price that spells out the gate, posts, operator, remotes and any access controls. Many customers start from our packages, such as a 12 ft single swing aluminum gate with a LiftMaster LA400 operator at $4,600 installed, and customize from there. Custom driveway gates are designed around your style, width and color.

Step 3: How are the gates built?

KSM Gates does custom fabrication in-house. Aluminum gates are built to size and powder coated in the color you choose, and we can match 3 or 4 rail designs to existing fencing. Steel and ornamental gates are welded and finished for strength and a clean look.

Step 4: What happens on installation day?

Posts	Set steel posts in concrete, plumb and level
Hanging the gate	Mount hinges or rollers and hang the gate so it swings or slides freely
Automation	Install the operator, wiring or solar panel, and safety sensors
Access controls	Add keypads, intercoms or smartphone control if included
Adjustment	Set open and close limits, force settings and timing
Testing	Run full cycles and test every safety sensor

If posts need time for the concrete to cure before the gate is hung, installation may be split across more than one visit.

Step 5: What is covered at the walkthrough?

We show you how to use the remotes, keypad or app, how to release the gate for manual use during an outage, and how to test the safety sensors. We also cover basic upkeep, which you can find in our gate maintenance checklist.
